Our Services

Family Reunification

Citogen has extensive experience in Forensic Genetics and is one of the few laboratories that is duly accredited according to the UNE–EN ISO/IEC 17025 STANDARD by the ENAC (National Accreditation Entity) for paternity, paternal lineage and other kinship testing. It meets the criteria required by the Government of Spain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the European Union and Cooperation for conducting family reunification tests.

Paternity and other kinship tests

We conduct paternity, maternity and other kinship tests by comparing the genetic profile of the two people involved in the test (for instance, son/daughter and their presumed father) to subsequently carry out a statistical analysis that reveals the likelihood of kinship.

Genetic profiling

Each human being has a unique “genetic profile” or “genetic fingerprint” (with the exception of monozygotic twins whose genetic profile is identical), which is why genetic profiling can be used as follows:
– To identify participants through paternity/maternity/other kinship tests.
– Criminalistics.
– To identify people in huge catastrophes (aeroplane crashes, earthquakes, etc.).
– To search for relatives.
– To search for missing persons.
– To identify adopted children.

Post-mortem studies

We perform post-mortem studies to identify all kinds of biological remains (bones, muscle tissue, biopsies, etc.) of deceased people.

As a collaborating laboratory in democratic memory studies, we specialise in processing and analysing bone remains, for which we have specialised facilities and highly trained personnel.
